Zero Waste Deodorant – Make at home yourself
Fairyland cottage recipe for zero waste deodorant made from just 3 ingredients.
For this recipe, you will need:
- Coconut oil – a natural antibacterial, which helps in minimizing odour by increasing the skin’s moisture content.
- Baking soda – absorbs odour and reduces sweating by decreasing your skin’s temperature. However, with a pH level of alkaline 9, skin irritations can occur. Should this happen cease using the product.
- An antibacterial essential oil, for example; peppermint, lemongrass, thyme, tea tree, lavender, bergamot, lemon, rosemary. Pick the one you prefer the smell of as these oils help reduce odours.
- A glass jar to solidify the deodorant in.
Procedure
Step 1: Melt the coconut oil.
Step 2: Add baking soda.
Step 3: Add the essential oils.
Step 4: Mix the ingredients together to stop the mixture from clumping.
Step 5: Leave the mixture in a cool place to solidify. If you are in a warm environment, you can place it in the fridge.
Step 6: Once the mixture has hardened to a uniform consistency, test it on your hands by rubbing in a small sample.
