Zero Waste Deodorant- DIY- 3 Ingredients

Fairyland cottage recipe for zero waste deodorant. For this recipe, you will need:

  • Coconut oil. Natural antibacterial, which helps in minimizing odor.
  • Baking soda. Absorbs odor. However, since it has a scale of 9-alkaline, baking soda can irritate your skin so if this happens, stop using it.
  • An essential oil. Some antibacterial essential oils include; peppermint, lemongrass, thyme, tea tree, lavender, bergamot, lemon, rosemary, etc. Whichever you are drawn to the smell, go for that.
  • A glass jar to solidify; this is a coconut jar.

Procedure

Step 1: Melt the coconut oil. And this helps to reduce body odor as it increases the skin moisture also helps with moisturizing.

Step 2: Add baking soda. And this helps if you are a heavy sweater because baking soda is a deodorant that reduces sweat. Baking soda balances pH levels in the body, which helps calm down your skin temperature.

Step 3: Add essential oils for taste preference and antibacterial properties. This helps with odor reduction and is antibacterial. In addition, it will also help with antibacterial properties.

Step 4: Give it a little mix. Mixing is not only required for the oil, but it also helps to see how your combination affects its smell. Also, mixing the mixture well helps in keeping it from becoming clumped.

Step 5: Leave the mixture in an excellent place to harden. For instance, if you are in a warm environment, you can place it in the fridge. Leaving the mixture in a cool place also helps retain the natural aroma.

Step 6: After the mixture hardens and is consistent, test the combination with your hands. Take a sample, rub it against your hands, and put it on your hands.

Another way to test is with a hand against the back of an oven door, as it works just like body odor – so this will work based on your hand size and distance from the notch; if you have long hair, wait 24 hours before testing again until next step in which time you take off those sweaty, soggy clothes!

You can transfer a small amount to a smaller glass jar when going on a holiday.
