Plant trees !
Planting trees will help us remove CO2 and conserve the soil and necessary nutrients. Planted at the right depth, trees help to preserve rainwater and keep soil from leaching into the ground. In addition, planting trees will help reduce our emission of greenhouse gases by reducing the carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane which are released when fuels such as fossil fuels are burnt.
Planting trees will allow rain to percolate down into the ground, instead of being lost through evaporation and runoff off natural land surfaces such as roadsides and parkland areas. Planting trees on available land conserves soil nutrients while planting in areas where crops are grown can greatly reduce erosion by redirecting the run off of rain water.
Efforts need to be made to conserve and repair damaged tropical land reserves. Replacing them with trees is one effective way, through planting or simply replanting. Once these trees are replanted, they need to be looked after. Unfortunately, some of the same species and types of tree are planted repeatedly, with litle care. This practice needs to be diversified.
Trees are living things! Creating a multitude of benefits in the environment to be seen by just monitoring how they grow, act and react under different climatic temperatures.
Trees are so important to our lives that without them there would be no animals or plants at all, and the Earth’s habitats and ecosystems would not be able to exist in the same form.
Trees create biodiversity throughout their life cycles which include seeds distributed by the wind and birds. It is believed that both seeds and birds travel over a distance of 3,000 miles when leaving a tree. Tropical plants and grasses are also dependent on the help of the wind and birds distributing their seeds. Additionally, trees play a vital role in keeping dry land and forests healthy.
Bottom Line
There are endless benefits of planting trees, but the most vital of all is the absorption of CO2 from our atmosphere. Experts suggest that there needs to be a zero emission by 2050. Trees play a significant role in attaining this goal.
It is evident that Mon Eco Pote’s tree planting campaign makes a major contribution to reducing CO2 levels in a realistic, practical and sustainable fashion. It is a goal which requires world-wide recognition and support!
